Since ancient times in Apulia, one of the greatest traditions has involved working with clay, including vases, vessels and small sound objects inspired by the animal world and linked to propitiatory symbols, used as a lure or game for children. The oldest whistle found in the area, which scholars date to the 16th century, depicts a cockerel, which in the region is a symbol of fertility and virility.
