The name plumeria-or Pomelia-derives from the French botanist Charles Plumier, who first studied the plant while traveling in the service of the King of France. It was the British who brought it to Sicily, where it found favorable climatic conditions to develop. The pomelia blooms starting in May, and its flowers are large and decorative, clustered in beautiful clusters.
