Persecuted after refusing the advances of the Roman governor Quintianus – having consecrated her life to the catholic faith – she was martyred on 5 February 251. The venerated saint, virgin and martyr is commemorated with one of the most beautiful and impressive religious festivals in the world which is celebrated between 3 and 5 February, in a mix of faith and folklore.
