Camarina’s coins were minted around 490 BCE, and the silver charm reproduces the figures present at the time: a Corinthian helmet in the center of a shield and, on the other side, a palm tree with two schinieri, referring to the rule of the tyrant of Gela, Hippocrates, who also controlled Camarina. An exercise in artistry and mastery by master goldsmiths who pay tribute with their work today to one of the most˘ glorious eras for artistic heritage.
